Thoughts on Abbottgate

First, please watch the YouTube to understand what I am about to blog.  Thanks!

Second, now that you have I want to make three points:
  1. Campaign Research Inc. was hired to do a "campaign plan".  Well, you don't have the media contact you directly... although they were the subject of a PublicEyeOnline blog post.
  2. This clearly speaks to the lack of integrity in George Abbott and his campaign.  Lack of integrity in the infamous "kuma sutra" sexual innuendo comment, lack of integrity in having a senior member declare YBCL (Young BC Liberals) support w/o consulation and certainly lack of integrity in issuing public warnings or at least campaign-to-campaign warnings about the zero-day attack on BCLib membership registry if not lack of integrity for setting Christy Clark up.
  3. I call this a zero-day attack because like in the computer world there are people who do nothing else but look for software vulnerabilities.  Most are good mensches and report the loophole so measures can be taken, but some exploit the vulnerability for malware or viruses or theft or at the least just plain mischief.  It sure doesn't speak to one's integrity to sit mute on the threat of a zero-day attack as one is clearly unfolding...  WikiPedia has good details on what a Zero-Day attack is if you want to go technical.
Off hot.

Not "Infighting", Debating

Just taking issue w/ CKNW headline on story of Kevin Falcon vs. Christy Clark's policy differences...

Let me be clear: This is NOT infighting.

This is NOT dropping the N-bomb or throwing caucus under the bus or being Anklebiterott and saying "not credible", "no real plan" about another candidate - now that is infighting, this is two honourable people having honest disagreements.  Sadly only one can win...

This IS what leadership campaigns are all about.  Clearly MLA Falcon wants caucus to decide who and when drops the writ... Christy Clark understands that she doesn't want to be the next Ujjal Dosanjh or Ernie Eves and overstay an acute honeymoon as an unelected premier.  Now, this means invalidating 85 (eighty-five) elections... but the public sees it as 1 (one).

She's right:  "I am not going to wait until the very last minute before I take the time to go out and ask British Columbians if it's okay for them to have a new Premier."  Good for her.

Expect if she wins, writ-drop in September synchronous w/ Ontario.  BCNDP will have new leader, hopefully Dix but likely Farnworth, as well.
